Leadership Development
Girlhood, Identity, & Girl Culture presents the opportunity for former students to become emerging girlhood scholars through the teaching assistant program. Each year, between 6 and 9 students are selected from the previous year to be teaching and/or research assistants. Students who have taken the course as a freshman or sophomore have the opportunity to come back as a TA for more than one year. The TA cohort utilizes feminist pedagogy to work together in order to aid students in academia and praxis. Each TA directly mentors 3-4 college students by providing them with weekly feedback on their reading reflections and classroom contributions. Becoming an emerging girlhood scholar allows students to deepen their understanding of girlhood scholarship as well as strengthen their muscles in facilitation and identity development.
